Heads you Win

Headteacher Jakki Rogers on Friday won a prestigious Silver Pearson Teaching Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership of the school. Chair of Governors, Revd. Tim Jeffreys, praised Mrs Rogers, staff, children and parents for the award at a special assembly. Mayor of Lambeth Donatus Anyanwu presented the award, thanking her for her dedication to enriching the lives of all Christ Church pupils.

In a video tribute local MP, Kate Hoey, said it was people like Mrs Rogers who were making a real difference to the lives of young people in the Lambeth area:

“I want to send all my congratulations to you, Mrs Rogers, and to the school and to the pupils and to everyone who has made Christ Church such a great school to be part of.”

Mayor Boris Johnson, who visited the school last year, also sent a message saying how much he had enjoyed his time with us, saying it was “no surprise” Mrs Rogers had won the award since she led such an amazing school.

Mrs Rogers was one of 58 headteachers to win the award out of more than 4,000 nominated. She joins fellow Silver Award winners at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden on October 18th where 10 of them will receive a Gold Plato Award. The “Britain’s Classroom Heroes” will be filmed and broadcast by the BBC.
